Robotic Pelvic Floor Surgery

Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery for Pelvic Floor Disorders

Robotic surgery is the most advanced type of minimally invasive surgery available today. And, Rose Medical Center is among a small number of hospitals in the region using the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System to treat pelvic floor disorders. Using the robotic system, our team can perform the following surgeries:

  • Hysterectomy: Treatment for vaginal prolapse (falling or slipping of the vagina) where the uterus is removed.
  • Sacrocolpopexy: Treatment for vaginal and uterine prolapse (falling or slipping of the uterus) where a piece of mesh is used to hold the vagina in the correct anatomical position.
  • Myomectomy: Removal of uterine fibroids (non-cancerous growths in the uterine wall). A primary benefit of the da Vinci Myomectomy is the opportunity for future pregnancies following this procedure.

Through a high-tech control module, surgeons move miniaturized operating instruments that allow for extremely precise movements. In fact, robotic surgeons have a greater range of motion, they can see more clearly, and they have better dexterity when using the da Vinci system.

And for our patients, robotic-assisted surgery has many advantages over traditional or open surgery, including:

  • Smaller incisions
  • Less blood loss
  • Less pain
  • Reduced risk of infection
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Quicker recovery & return to regular activity
  • Less scarring

Not all patients are candidates for robotic surgery. To find out if you may be a candidate for this revolutionary surgery, please talk to your doctor about da Vinci Robotic Surgery options.
