Cancer Registry

To improve our understanding of how often cancer occurs in the community, so that our hospital can better respond to patient needs and comply with state requirements, Rose Medical Center collects cancer-specific data through a Cancer Registry.

Since 1961, Rose's cancer registrars have been gathering data that is provided to both the Colorado Central Cancer Registry and the National Cancer Data Base. Rose collects lifetime patient follow-up so that the data is both accurate and comprehensive. Cancer registry statistics allow us to:

  • Understand cancer risk
  • Focus cancer-control activities such as screenings
  • Monitor how often cancer is diagnosed
  • Assist with cancer research
  • Determine the effectiveness of treatment
  • Develop future services and screening programs

As an important part of our cancer care team, cancer registrars review each patient's medical history, as well as their diagnosis and treatment records. Registrars document data from their review of medical records, help with quality control in medical record documentation, participate in weekly case conferences, and participate in continuing educational opportunities.

If you have been a cancer patient at Rose Medical Center, we will continue to gather information from your regular check-ups with your physician. If you move, change doctors, change your phone number or change your name, please let us know so that we may continue to gather relevant data for our cancer registry.
