Patient Satisfaction at Rose Medical Center
The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Survey is a national survey used to collect standardized data of patients' perspective of their hospital experience. The survey results are publicly reported and provide a resource for people looking for a way to compare and choose a hospital.
The HCAHPS survey consists of 27 questions and covers eight topics that have been identified as being important factors in patient satisfaction:
- Communication with doctors
- Communication with nurses
- Responsiveness of hospital staff
- Pain management
- Communication about medicines
- Discharge information
- Quietness of the hospital environment
The survey is administered to a random sampling of patients anywhere from 48 hours to six weeks after they leave the hospital and must be done monthly by a participating hospital. The results are published quarterly on the Hospital Compare website.
At Rose, we review our HCAHPS scores weekly to assess what areas may need improvement. We try to connect personally with each patient while they are in the facility or after they have been treated to listen to any feedback or suggestions they may have for us.
